UPSTATE, S.C.— Joan Russell of Sylvan Learning Center has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Operations.
Russell earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Bob Jones University, and her master’s degree in education from Walden University.
Russell has worked with Sylvan Learning Center since March of 2011. Most recently, she has filled the role of Center Director of Sylvan Learning Center in Spartanburg. For the last two years, Russell has also been Sylvan Learning Center’s Regional Director for the Western Carolinas, where she has overseen all of the Sylvan Learning Centers in the Upstate, as well as the acquired location in Asheville. Since 2013, Russell has played a large role in the expansion of Sylvan Learning Center in the Upstate from one location to three, and earned the first contract between Sylvan Learning Centers in the Upstate and a local school system.
As Vice President of Operations, Russell will manage the operations of Sylvan Learning Centers in the Upstate, Midlands and Asheville, and will assist in the continued growth of Sylvan Learning Centers in the Midlands and Asheville.
In addition to this promotion, Russell will be joining the Sylvan Learning Center board as an officer.
