GREENVILLE, SC –  ADA- My Mother the Architect will be the next Pop-Up Movie from the Greenville Jewish Film Festival to premiere Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m. at Camelot Cinemas in Greenville.

ADA - My Mother the Architect is a deeply moving portrait of an extraordinary woman directed by her daughter, filmmaker, and former architect, Yael Melamede. Ada is a true pioneer who, like many successful working mothers of her time, was forced to make impossible choices. The film explores Ada's career, her role in forming Israel’s architectural identity, and the difficult choices between professional success and family.

Despite personal sacrifices, Ada’s work gave physical form to some of Israel’s highest democratic ideals, most notably in the acclaimed Supreme Court building in Jerusalem, the Open University, Ben Gurion University, the Institute for Democracy and numerous other civic institutions around the country.

"As a filmmaker and former architect, I wanted to reimagine the heroic image of architecture and architects often portrayed in books and movies and find a way to make this essential practice more relevant and relatable,” said the filmmaker Yael Melamede in their Director's Statement.

“I found that opportunity close to home with the story of Ada Melamede, my mother. A brilliant architect, devoted wife, and mother has built a life of balance and ambition. When a career-defining opportunity arises, she must confront the choices that could change everything she’s worked for. Between family, love, and professional dreams, she discovers what truly matters—and what she’s willing to sacrifice.”
