GREENVILLE, SC – In honor of National Women’s Month, dozens of community leaders gathered in Nicholtown to celebrate the completion of a historic home. The annual Habitat for Humanity of Greenville Women’s Build launched in December, but with a new twist: Peer-to- Peer fundraising. Habitat Greenville created 10 teams of influential women in the Greenville Community, challenging them to invite four or more of their friends to be a part of their team. This made a minimum of 40

Representatives and volunteers from 11 local credit unions gathered on Sturtevant Street to raise a wall, but more importantly uplift a family on their path to homeownership.

This year's event raised $100,000 in support of two organizations central to Greenville's social fabric: Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, which builds pathways to affordable homeownership for working families, and Shriners Children's Greenville, which has provided world-class pediatric specialty care regardless of ability to pay since 1927.

Forty years ago this week, a small group of Greenville residents looking to build one house a year to help local families escape generational poverty received a charter from Habitat for Humanity International to see if they could meet that goal.
