GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sportsclub Fitness &Wellness is supporting breast cancer awareness this October with a special mammogram screening and Zumba Glow Dance Party to benefit the Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health.
Pre-party activities such as face painting will go from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Sportsclub Express Simpsonville, located at 667 SE Main Street in Simpsonville. The Zumba dancing takes place from 6:30-8 p.m. In addition, there also will be a mobile mammogram on site from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and people can call Bon Secours to schedule your appointment on the bus (864-675-4875).
The Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health brings the most advanced breast imaging technology available together in one place with an expert staff that offers compassionate, convenient care and rapid results. It is located in Suite 220 on the second floor of Building 131 on the campus of St. Francis Eastside.
According to the state health department, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in South Carolina; it is the second most common cause of cancer death among women, next to lung cancer, and South Carolina ranked 13th in the nation for breast cancer mortality in the 2013-2017 time period.
“Breast cancer affects so many women in the Upstate,” said Steve Pastorek, manager of Sportsclub Simpsonville. “We wanted to come up with to show our support and rally people to this cause in a unique way.”
