Preleasing has started on the Woodlands North community

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Woodlands North is set to bring much needed affordable housing for seniors to Charlotte.

Located at 8400 Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road, Woodlands North will include 57, one and two-bedroom apartments targeting individuals and families earning 30%, 50%, 60% and 70% AMI and geared for those 55 and older with a limited number allocated for 35- to 54-year-olds.

NHE, Inc. is the developer of Woodlands North. In addition to receiving RPP funds from NC Housing Finance Agency and Housing Trust Funds (HTF) from the City of Charlotte, Woodlands North is supported by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program which makes all of the units income affordable. 

Designed for a modern lifestyle, Woodlands North includes large kitchens, Energy Star appliances, modern finishes, an on-site fitness center, laundry machines and a computer lab, as well as a community room with scheduled resident events.

The community is next to the Long Creek Greenway, a paved, multi-use public trail network and environmental restoration corridor. Spanning several miles along Long Creek and Dixon Branch, the greenway is popular for walking, running, and road cycling. 

Creating affordable senior housing in Charlotte is not new for NHE. In May 2025, they opened Ovata at Reedy Creek in Northeast Charlotte. This is a 78-unit affordable housing community also aimed at seniors.
