SENECA, S.C. – The Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority (OJRSA) has repealed the water quality advisory issued on February 1, 2026, for Martin Creek in Oconee County. The notice was issued as a precaution when wastewater was released from a broken pipe adjacent to the waterway on Ridgeview Drive near Seneca on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The OJRSA has analyzed samples from the affected waterway and results indicate the presence of bacteria returned to normal levels.
OJRSA crews and contractors will be continuing work in the area this week to finish restoration to the area.
The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES), formally known as the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), has approved the repeal of the advisory based on the sample results.
