Greenville Scottish Games announces Royal Highland Fusilier Guard

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Eight members of The Royal Highland Fusilier Honor Guard (2SCOTS) has been selected to take part in the 2023 Greenville Scottish Games.

WO2 James McKenna will lead this team and he has an extensive background of service with the 2SCOTS, The Royal Regiment of Scotland - British Army - having served in Afghanistan multiple times, Cyprus, Belize, Kenya, Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, Germany and has participated in the Royal Guard for HRH Her Majesty the Queen at Balmoral. McKenna even had the opportunity to “Reel” with Her Majesty.


Other members of the team coming to Greenville include: Sgt. Garry Watt, Sgt. Kevin McAvoy, Cpl. Mark McWhinnie, Cpl. Jamie McDonald, LCpl. Lee Flanagan, LCpl. Adrian Wallace, and Fus. Calum Cathero.


“We are truly excited to continue this incredible relationship with the 2SCOTS. Greenville always turns out to make their stay here as rewarding and fun as possible,” said Jay Spivey, Marketing Director and Board Member of the Games.

The 2SCOTS are the most decorated unit of the British Army and this is the 11th Games they will attend as Honor Guard. Their duties will include marching in the Great Scot! Parade on Friday, May 26 at 6 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Greenville and they will preside over the Military Salute at the Games at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at Furman. This Honor Guard is hosted and supported by the St. Andrews Society of Upper South Carolina and the team will be in Greenville the entire week of the Games.
